Senators ratify amendments to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer

Minsk, September 26 /BelTA corr./ At the tenth session of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly’s seventh convocation, senators approved the bill “On the Ratification of the Amendment to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer,” BelTA’s correspondent reports.

“The Montreal Protocol establishes measures for the phased reduction and elimination of the production and consumption of ozone-depleting substances. These substances are used for refrigeration, air conditioning, disinfection and decontamination of quarantined facilities, fire suppression, the production of insulation, foam materials and aerosol products, as well as industrial solvents,” explained Sergei Rachkov, Chairman of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic on International Affairs and National Security.
