Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Minister Sergei Maslyak visited the Gomel region
On February 13, 2025 Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Minister Sergei Maslyak visited the Gomel region.
During his visit, the head of the environmental agency visited the Communal Unitary Enterprise “Complex for the Processing and Disposal of Toxic Industrial Waste of the Gomel Region” and the Svetlogorsk Pulp and Cardboard Mill.
The Minister inspected the work of the Communal Unitary Enterprise “Complex for the Processing and Disposal of Toxic Industrial Waste of the Gomel Region” in Chechersk. The enterprise temporarily stores hazardous industrial waste received from enterprises across Belarus. To establish a facility for its environmentally safe disposal, since 2018 the Ministry of Environmental Protection, in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), has been implementing the international technical assistance project “Coordinated Management of Ozone-Depleting Substances (ODS) and Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Armenia (Regional Demonstration Project)”.
